Altri Group

Altri is a leading European cellulosic fiber producer, being one of Europe's most efficient producers of bleached eucalyptus pulp.

Altri operates three cellulosic fiber mills - Celbi, Caima, and Biotek - with an annual nominal capacity exceeding 1 million tonnes.

Forest management is a core activity for Altri, which manages about 86.3 thousand hectares of certified forest in Portugal. The self-sufficiency in forest resources is around 20%.

Through its subsidiary Greenvolt, Altri generates electric power from forest biomass for better forest management. Currently, five power plants are in operation - Mortágua, Ródão (Biotek), Constância (Caima), and Figueira da Foz (two at Celbi) - with a total installed capacity of about 96.7 MW, producing a total of 720 GWh per year.

The company produces a surplus of electric power through renewable-based industrial cogeneration. This process uses plant components with combustible properties unsuitable for pulp production (lignins), which are burned in a recovery boiler to produce steam that will drive an electric generator. Altri sells about 500 GWh of electric power annually from the cogeneration process.

Regarding stock market evolution, it is noted that Altri's shares began trading (March 2005) with a price of 0.15€ per share (value adjusted after spin-offs and stock splits).

Altri has based its growth on a strategy of transformative acquisitions (Celtejo in 2005 and Celbi in 2006), integration, consolidation, and expansion of the acquired units, and the development of projects aimed at increasing the added value of the raw material used. The primary financial metric to evaluate investment projects is the return on invested capital.
